Ancient China's history can be traced back to over 4,000 years ago...one of the longest lasting civilizations! (14) Follow me as we take a closer look at the universals of culture the shaped this ancient civilization:
Material Culture: Weapons
Arts, Play and Recreation: Having fun with there friends
Language and Nonverbal Communication: Chinese symbols now known as old Chinese (en.m.wikipedia.org)
Social Organization: King, Shi class, Nong class, Gong class, and Shang class
Social Control: The Emperor and his men
Economic Organization: The Emperor makes sure the people are cared for
Education: Family members and ¨military school¨, if attended.
Conflict and Warfare: Other Dynasties that had what they wanted, i.e. land
World View: A balance of Yin (feminine) and Yang (masculine) made for a good lifestyle (15)
The Ancient Chinese civilization may have been isolated from much of the world because of their land's physical geography, but, they were no stranger to conflict and warfare! Qin's (ch-in) took over a lot of land to make a giant dynasty. This dynasty had an abundance of people. So, while they were expanding their rule, if they needed more troops to fight for them, they would put thieves on the front lines to protect their trained soldiers.
The weapons the Qin Dynasty used in these conflict were spears, shields and swords. These weapons were made of strong metals and more advanced than those of their enemies. This made them very successful in battle.
