Like the other ancient cultures we have explored, trade was an important part of the strong Ancient Greek economy. Greeks traded items like, olive oil, wine, and pottery (24).
Ancient Greek traded their goods locally. They also traded their goods with other lands of the world. They were able to trade internationally because they had easy access to bodies of water and boats! Along with being able to trade internationally, sailors and fishermen helped to make a strong Greek economy!
Around 600 BC, the Ancient Greeks started using coins to buy goods. Each city-state made their own coins. The coins were mostly made of silver, but other metals could be used. The pictures on the coins were unique to each city-state.
