Can you picture it, a civilization that was mostly isolated from other civilizations!?! That is Ancient China! The Northern and Western borders of the area were dry and hot deserts. These deserts served as a barrier and also a land to train troops. The Pacific Ocean bordered the Eastern part of the country, again, isolating Ancient China from other civilizations. The southern part of the area was lined by the Himalayan Mountains. These mountains offered protection and isolation.
There were two major rivers that ran through the central part of Ancient China, the Yangtze River and the Yellow River. These geographical features were important to this civilization because they provided water, food, rich and fertile soil and transportation. These geographic phenomena were important to the Chinese culture because they helped build a strong economy!
